Strategy for Policy Influence
DA’s strategies for policy include collaboration as in the habitat policy, and Education as in information, analysis and policy alternatives. The organisation influences the government by creating and testing innovative development approaches that could be adopted by the state.
We
- use grassroots experiences and innovations as the basis for improved policies and
- strengthen local capacities and structures for ongoing public participation
This is because we believe that a policy issue needs aggregation of opinion through consultations and analysis, both to understand the issue as also for expanding and influencing agenda.
We do this through Action Research and through partnerships and participatory processes. We use multi stakeholder Dialogue and Advocacy for sharing of experiences and knowledge with rural and urban communities, civil society and the government.
